Problem with hyperlinks to audio files (.mp3's uploaded to documents repository). Maddening.

Options
Can't seem to add links to audio files onto a page that should be accessible to all viewers, not just registered members. Chrome works fine. Firefox and IE direct user to login page when they click on audio control icon. Very frustrating.

  • Hello Sarah,

Sorry to hear you are having issues with the documents part. I tested this in the latest release for you and I was able to upload a 4MB mp3 audio file to my documents part. Once uploaded, I linked to this document in a Formatted Text and Images part and tested the link in the latest versions of IE, Chrome, and Firefox. Chrome and Firefox have built in audio players and started playing the file immediately. IE prompted me to download the file.

Are you using a custom control to play your uploaded audio file?

    Thanks,

    Ryan
  • Uploading was not a problem at all. Firefox and IE will not work for me. When I load the page in IE, when I click on the text that should link me to the audio file, I get redirected to the User Login page (I do not want visitors to have to register or login to access these links). When I load the page in Firefox, when I click on the hyperlinks, I get redirected to the User Login page.

I have tried both simple hyperlinks from text in the UFT&I part as well as custom controls. The custom controls were a mess so I abandoned that approach entirely.

  • Hello Sarah,

Thanks for sharing the hyperlink to the page in question. I am using Chrome and I was redirected to the login page as well. I would double check security on the documents part level, as well as the page properties to ensure the "Everyone" role is selected. You can also set security on the document level. Access Site Explorer => Documents and click edit on the individual documents you are serving up. Check the targeting and security tab to ensure "Everyone" is marked there.

If that does not solve it, I would contact our support team to get further assistance.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
  • Ryan, that's it! I appreciate your help. This made me crazy and that was exactly the answer I needed! Thanks so much.
