Kick-starting an integration project with Razer's Edge (Plug-in)

Options
Hello,

I thought a would try a quick question to see if I could get some initial information to get me going on my project !

I'm tasked with creating a Razer's Edge plug-in that will interface with an external telephony system. I downloaded the API doc's and they come with sample plug-in projects. From what I'm seeing and reading the plug-in's are/were developed using Visual Basic 6.0, which pre-dates .Net. It seems odd that the examples are so out of date, but my question is - will Razer's Edge only support plug-ins developed in that environment ? I can't even open the sample plug-in projects in Visual Studio as they are too old and are non-supported. It also seems that VB is the only way to go ?!?!

I have Visual Studio 2010 and 2013 on my machine, neither seems to be able to reach back far enough to accomodate Visual Basic 6.0 projects (and are not able to upgrade them).

Any initial advice on how modern plug-ins are developed for Razer's Edge would be greatly appreciated.

  • I don't think you'll find anything that works with Razer's Edge, but you might get lots of information about Raiser's Edge.  I'm only half-way joking because there is good information to be found if you Google the right words.

  • Hi Barry

I have created many plugins over the last 15 years, my most recent one, an import tool to bring data in from many sources is in the Blackbaud Market Place.

Most of the development has been with VS2008 with .net but anything higher should work. I am sorry, you are having issues updating the samples to use in your environment.  Contact me off list and I will try and help you as much as I can.

    Thanks

    Jeff

Haha, John. I was thinking the same thing (spelling wise) but you beat me to it!
