Grouping related constituents in a report or query

Does anyone have a good way to group together all related individuals, businesses and foundations that are related to the same person?  For instance, if I was querying for all giving to one fund - I would want to see all the giving over 5 years, but maybe one check came from the foundation, one from the individual and one from the business.  How can I produce a report and/or query so that we know that they are all related?  I tried sorting by organization relationship then individual name in the output of a query which worked for some records, but not all fo them.  Anyone have any good ideas?

    Do you use soft credits on your gifts? If so, you could include your report or query to include the soft credits and then when you sort, it would be grouped together.

    Thanks for your suggestion.  We do not normally soft credit everything, but maybe that's what we will need to start doing.  Right now we only soft credit spouse.  But this is an interesting idea.
