scanned information

What sort of information do you scan and attach in media?  We have someone who is wanting to scan each piece of information and I think it will become very cumbersome.

And if you have a dedicated scanner, what type is it?

We scan and store in Media only final grant proposals and budgets, photos, obituaries and articles about constituents.

We scan and store in a network location all of the backup documentation on gifts - much to cumbersome to attach everything to media.

Have you looked into OMatic Softwares free MagicFolder - it may be just what you need.

     Melissa,

I'm curious about your backup documentation on gifts.  Do you have them tied to constituent records? Do you use the Omatic free folder for that documentation?  do you also scan check information in that folder?

    Thanks for your help.

They are scanned (no checks unless the check has "documentation" on it such as a restriction in the memo field) and filed in a network folder not tied to the constituent record but named after the HOH in a couple record. You have to leave RE to get there but we have all been doing it so long. Tried to get our team to switch to MagicFolder but they actually prefer NOT going through RE (shocked me).

We are looking into getting Omatic. I didn't realize that ithad the ability to help with scanning. Interesting.
