Can I base a dashboard panel on a query which uses the <ASK> criteria?

Options

I want to create a dashboard panel which asks me for criteria whenever I refresh it. I wish to base the panel on a gift query which uses the field criteria of <ask>. The dashboard panel seems to hang when i built one and then refreshed it. Has anyone else tried this and gotten it to work?

To answer my own question, yes, you can base a dashboard panel on an <ask> query. I work in a Citrix environment, and the <ask> window is not automatically accessible. It does not have its own icon on the task bar, nor does it show up in the task manager list. However, if you minimize the main RE window, the <ask> window appears behind it. After making your selection of criteria, you must restore the main RE window from the task bar to see the results.

  • you are correct!  This seems to be a bit of a bug don't you think?  I kept jamming up my computer testing ask queries since the window was still open.
