    Hi Beth,

Assuming you mean someone like a development officer contacting donors, volunteers, and prospects, I would recommend tracking this in Contacts. If your representatives enter planned contacts, you can add a contact method for "planned contact," and they can then switch the method after the fact (and you can get a report of missed contacts). Depending on how their metrics are calculated, they might also use contact methods for personal visit, phone, letter, etc.

Depending on what else you track in Contacts, it may be useful to use UDFs or different contact methods to distinguish 1:1 contacts from the rest, e.g. Personal Email, Mass Email.

Using the calendar function is an option as well, but unless you are using the Outlook integration module, I find people don't like to keep two calendars. An automated report emailed every Sunday, with planned contacts for the upcoming week, is probably easier.

Thank you Jon! Yes - that is what I want to track.

Are you able to run a report on this that totals the number of activities for the particular field rep during a specific time? (the results of a month's 'completed' work).

Unfortunately we don't use Outlook any longer so that integration is not an option.

Absolutely! You would just want the report to group by field rep (you will probably want a dropdown UDF for rep) and select "show group totals." Then you could have secondary sorts for date and contact method.
