How to clean up Constituent Codes in RE Database View

Options

Hello Everyone,

How does everyone clean up their constituent codes in RE? Currently, we use queries but they are far from perfect. For example, to find uncoded constituents we use a query with the criteria name contains Foundation or contains Church. However, is there a better method someone is useing out there? Thanks so much!

@Michael Bober could you explain in more detail what you mean by “cleaning up”?

Your approach makes sense and I've used that before. You might get false positives though, more for “foundation” than for “church” but that is probably the most targeted you can get.

If you are trying to make sure a constituent code is present on all of your records, you could query for constituent code = blank. I think a combination of this and the “name contains” criteria will be best.

If the goal is to make sure every record has a constituent code, make it a required field. When you do that, RE will not allow a record to be saved unless it has a constituent code on it. You may want to wait until you've done the necessary cleanup and then enable that functionality. Update your procedures about constituent management as well so that everyone understands the importance of a constituent code.

    Lots to unpack here!

    Karen
