Disaster averted accidentally re emailing constituent who says "no email"

Options

I was ready to launch our new enewsletter when I realized - while reviewing the handful of new donors making online gifts at our new Convio-powered website - that one donor indicated (through the registration process) that he does not want to receive email. BUT he's NOT part of the enewsletter opt-out group. I'm confused about the synchronization of contact data as captured in the registration form and groups/interests. Without stumbling over this problem, I would have sent this constituent email against his express "no email" request. Help!

  • Hey Vic,

There are two levels at which a constituent can opt-in or out. There is the general or global opt-in or out that is indicated by the check mark on the constituents profile for accepts email. If this is set to not accept email a message from the email campaign tool should never be sent to a constituent. These are filtered out at the time of sending a message. If this is set to accept email but the record is a member of any one of the groups listed on a campaign's do not mail audience they will not receive that message.

In your case this should have prevented any issue in what you described.
