Layout becomes distorted with certain email clients

Is there a trick to making emails look good in Gmail? We send out a weekly volunteer email and I used a table to format several photos and links. It looked great from my organization email address, but gmail distorted the table and placed it over the my text. I also recieved a message from 2 separate constituents with different email hosts (one being comcast.net) that reported the same problem.

Is there a way to organize images and Web 2.0 links that will look good in most email formats?

Can you post the HTML code here for your email template (or have a link to it, or attach it as a file)?

Gmail shouldn't have any problems displaying tables in general, but there might be something specific in your code that it's having an issue with.
