Merging recurring gifts

Hi, we've had supporters providing their credit card details for their existing RG via OLX. What ends up happening is it creates a new RG record. Is there a way to merge these new details or copy them over onto their existing RG record?

    Hi Grace Sutilo‍ - Unfortunately, no to both. We mark the previous recurring gift record as 'completed' and continue with the recurring gift record that was recently created.

    We do the same as Austen, but also use our "Cancellation Reason" Gift Attribute to select "Continuing on another gift record" so we can exclude these finished gifts from reports on cancellations etc. We also update many of the new recurring gift fields (campaign, fund, appeal, package, gift date and a lot of gift attributes) to match the original gift so if they are included in reports the original details are used.

    That's an excellent idea Catherine Burns‍ ! I'd definitely suggest to the team that we adopt your system in dealing with this sort of duplicate RGs. Thanks much!
