Updating CC info from ACD Direct (Client) to Luminate Online (server) via API calls?

Hello everyone,


Hope this email finds you and your family safe and well.


I want to ask the community for the best practice on how to update CC info from the client's platforms.  Currently, we use ACD Direct's Simple Pledge and Pledge Cart as our offline/online platforms respectively and the donations will flow into Luminate Online (LO) instantaneously via API shadow forms.  The problem we are facing right now is when a sustainer contacted us to update his/her CC info, the new CC is captured with no issue; however, the existing CC was left untouched - causing 2 CC's being active and resulting in double-charges.


I have asked LO Support and they recommended using API calls to load the right donor and the right CC for the update.  Is this the best practice?  If not, please share yours.


Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

    If the donor already has a recurring gift, would it work for you to just edit the existing gift directly within LO admin?

    Fundraising > Donation Management > Sustaining Gifts tab > Pencil Icon > Enter New Credit Card button is at the bottom of Billing Information section.

    I wish it could be that simple.  You see, because we use ACD as our client to capture donations, for offline thru Simple Pledge - external ACD agents will be taking the pledge calls.  Similarly, for online thru Pledge Cart - the donors will be entering their own pledges on the web.  In both cases, the operators do not have LO Admin access to alter CC info.


    We currently are already doing what you suggested with our in-house membership department, that is if the donor called during business hours.  But oftentimes donors would request during off-hours and on the weekend, that is why we want to automate the CC-update process directly from the client-side, essentially an external platform that is already connected to LO via API shadow forms.
