Cannot Merge - Records tied to a Facebook Fundraiser -- ??

Options
We tried to merge an account in LO, but came across this error:

Cannot Merge- Records tied to a Facebook Fundraiser

Cannot merge because the following constituent records are linked to a Facebook fundraiser: 1024875. Remove the constituent(s) with a Facebook fundraiser and merge again. See Facebook Integration

The record has a few dupes, and no matter which of the records we choose as the master record, that error notice appears.

We started the integration in the fall. Anyone encounter this before? How are you addressing duplicates who have a linked FB fundraiser?

  • I haven't been the one to deal with this in a while, but you get a similar error with previous TR registrants. I believe we have to unregister/remove the old duplicates from the old TR events so we could merge them into the newest record (which the user is currently using.) If I recall correctly, that can mean reactivating, or at least unarchiving, that old event for a few minutes,

Bummer, because you lose that early participation history from the resulting merged record.

Hi JD Piland‍ - I encounter this at least once a month.  You have to wait to merge the duplicate and master records until after the constituent's linked Facebook Fundraiser has ended.  I mark the newly created duplicate record with a solicit code "DUPLICATE" and set the preferred address with a blank address record to discourage my colleagues from utilizing the duplicate record in the meantime.  When you are able to merge the records depends on settings for Facebook Fundraisers in the TR it originated from; for my org, it is either at 90 day or multiple month wait until we can merge the records.  If you find out a better way to deal with this, please let me know.
