Is anyone else noticing the lack of functionality in the RENXT list feature?

Options
Our company added the RENXT access about a year ago. While I know that the query options in NXT are going to be much more limited than in database view, I'm finding that the Blaudbaud developers are making some very poor choices when it comes to the functionality of the list feature in NXT. I was recently asked to generate a report of all the major gifts (over $2500) that we receive excluding those gifts that are tied to events. The report is one that the CFO wants to receive on a weekly basis and I figured that if I created in it NXT, that the information would be available and updated anytime that the CFO decided to look at it. This seemed like the best idea to automate the process a bit. My plan was to select all our funds in the filter and then unselect the funds that belong to our events, I could then set a dollar amount and a date range and I would have a list of major gifts that would update itself as new gifts came in. What I found was that the funds filter only shows a max of 500 funds. Even if I select show inactive funds, it will show the first 500 and then it stops scrolling. I contacted Blackbaud and was told that those filters were designed that way and that if I needed additional funds I could type in the search section and the funds missing from the scrolling list would show and I could select them there. That would be a fine solution if I was just adding a couple but we have over 1000 funds and I cannot sit and search 500 funds one by one to add them. This same limitation does not apply to the campaigns or appeals filter. Has anyone else experienced this or is this an issue that is not widespread because most do not have as many different funds as we do?

  • This is why I had to add additional campaign codes.  We used to have two a year - YYGIF (gift) and YYEXP (expense).

I needed an easy way for others to run reports so that it doesn't include things they may not want to count - event income (tax-ded portion), GIK, bequests, etc.

    I now have.

    UNR - unrestricted

UNRW, UNRG, UNRH, UNRHO - other unrestricted funds

    RES - restricted

    END - endowment

    BEQ - bequests

    GIK - gift in kinds

EVE - gift portion of an event registration

EXP - non gift portion of an event registration

    ATH - athletics

EATH - expense portion of athletic gifts

    SPF - special project funds
  • Thank you for this heads up. Yes, we have more than 1000 funds. I'm disappointed to hear of the limit and the suggested (slow) work-around.
