3rd-party event registration tools

Options
We have an "event' that gets very complicated and we're looking for a tool that will better suit the requirements. Wondering if anyone has suggestions.

The event is our annual CSA registration, which has several options:
  • multiple location pickups, each with it's own pricing
  • different pricing for new members and current members
  • option to pay on registration, pay later, or split payment -- this year we also want to provide an option for automatic monthly payments
  • same options for full-season and half-season shares
This has resulted in a registration form with 16 options, which is very confusing. Difficulty is crazy for staff because with LO we can't manage quantity available by event, each of the 16 ticket types has to be managed individually.

If anyone has a suggestion for a third-party tool that could handle this kind of complexity better I would love to hear from you!

Thank you.

  • I don't have any personal experience using it, but a lot of our affiliates like Eventbrite as a cost-effective, more sophisticated alternative to LO calendar events.
  • We use Wufoo for complex registrations - but ONLY for RSVP-only ones; any that are paid events have to funnel through Luminate to collect the money. I'm happy to send you some Wufoo examples, if that's any help. If your finance-collection system is different, you might be able to use Wufoo to collect funds as well.

Looking at your example makes me wonder if (although this is a more complex initial set up) you could have one registration landing page (pagebuilder or wherever your website is built) with individual links to separate reg pages for each type of option? So that when a user clicks on the link for the type of option they want (13 week share, returning 26-week shareholder, etc etc) they go directly to just the one form for their specific type? You could start with building out the first one, then just copy copy copy :-) and update the details in each basic place. Much less confusing, maybe, for the shareholders?

    Good luck solving this!

I'd love to see some Wufoo examples. You're right that separate registration links would be easier for the user, in our example, but I'd be concerned that juggling the amount available between multiple events as well as multiple event levels would be overwhelming for our CSA staff, who spend most of their time out working the farm.

    Thanks!

Kim, here are a couple of our Wufoo forms that had multiple choices. The second in particular was wordy and complex, but got the job done!

Unfortunately, some of the ones I was thinking of involved events that took place over two or three months, and as each event was past, the form was updated to reflect only upcoming ones, and so doesn't show what we really did anymore.

We have, a couple of times, had forms in Luminate that were similar to the situation you outline, where several ticket types for levels of event sponsorship were offered. It was a bear! I wish you the best!
