**Feedback Needed: Segmenting on email data**

Options

Hi OLX Community!

I am looking for feedback around how you would like to segment email data. For example: I would like to create a list of people who have opened an email in the past 6 months. What are some other examples of how you would like to segment email data and what do you do with that list you segment? Do you segment them to send them a different type of email or to actually try a different form of communication? Any and all feedback welcome!

Thank you for your time and thoughts!

  • I would like to be able to segment based on our events (e.g., gala attendees, run attendees, golf attendees, etc.)  I would also like to be able to segment so that we can just send invitations, newsletters, etc. without running the risk of having those people receive a solicitation and then unsubscribe.  Because it's my understanding that if they unsubscribe they're unsubscribing from everything, when in reality they probably do want to receive invitations just not solicitations.

    Thanks.
  • Hi Michele,

Depending on the purpose of the email we segment based on a few different criteria:

    - If its a fundraising email we segment on recent gifts, what kind of donor they are (p2p, major, monthly, etc.) to allow for different asks to different people, as well as to act as follow up to a offline solicitation

    - For events we segment based on where the event is being held, as well as past attendance

    - We also segment based on specific attributes, since we are a volunteer cooperation organization if we were sending an email based on a certain country we send volunteers to, then we would email that specifically to volunteers we've recorded as having gone to that country in the past

We also like to review who are consistent email clickers and openers are based on various constituent codes

I agree, it would be great if Blackbaud's unsubscribe link asked the individual what they wanted to unsubscribe to ie: fundraising emails, events, news, etc..

    Thanks,
