Membership Registration - Online Express

Options
Hello!

I hope all is well! The athletics committee would like to set up membership registrations online using Online Express. This was originally set up on the K-12 Core registration/event pages, but they didn't like how the functionality of it. With that said, as for Online Express, can memberships be set up to be paid multiple years/recurring? If so how do you do that? Would that be through the "Bill me later" option? They would like to give the member to "opt out" of receiving the benefits (shirts and other things), can that be done? If the school wants to give them a place to "write a note" (if they wish to pay for membership for someone else or make a donation to athletics and pay for membership) how can they do that?

Thanks in advance for your response and assistance! Take care and have a good day!

Thanks!

  • Hi Lanetta. Here are a few quick answers to your questions:

Q: can memberships be set up to be paid multiple years/recurring?

A: Not in an automatic fashion, no. Online Express membership forms don't support auto-renewal. Most organizations using Membership periodically identify their members in need of renewal soon and email them with a link to renew their membership via an OLX membership form. But you can configure memberships to last however long you like. This is a property of the membership category which you can configure in RE under Config > Membership category > Default Settings tab.

Q: They would like to give the member to "opt out" of receiving the benefits (shirts and other things), can that be done?

A: OLX membership forms don't support giving that option to members directly via the form. The easiest way to do this would be to create two different membership forms...one that exposes memberships that include benefits and one showing membership levels that don't include benefits. You'd then need to provide prospective members with a choice before they actually reach the membership form page. For example you could have two links on a page:

    Become a Member
Become a Member but waive benefits

and then each link would direct to a page with the corresponding membership form.

Q: If the school wants to give them a place to "write a note" (if they wish to pay for membership for someone else or make a donation to athletics and pay for membership) how can they do that?

A: OLX membership forms don't support notes fields. But they do support the concepts of gifts of membership and the ability for members to make an additional donation when becoming a member. Both of these options can be enabled while editing the Membership form in OLX, on the Extras tab.

    Thanks Lanetta!

    Chris
