Event Pricing that isn't a gift

Options
Hello,

I am using Online Express event form for an event that's connected to our Raiser's Edge Events module. We are charging a fee for the event. I listed it in the pricing under the Gift amount (even through it's not a gift) and set the receipt amount at $0. The issue is that when the registrations are downloaded from Online Express into Raiser's Edge, it comes in as a donation and not as a ticket fee. When I go to the registrants record, the ticket fee now shows up in their giving total. It also pulls into our reports.

Is there a way to work around this so the ticket costs don't show as gifts in the event registrants records and our reports?

Hi Tara - The person downloading gifts from OLX will have to make this change while the gift is in Batch (before committing).  They can change the classification of a gift in relation to the participant record by choosing the "link to event" icon on the top menu and changing it from a donation to a registration fee.  You can also do this via keyboard shortcuts - Other Donations = Ctrl + N / Registration Fees = Ctrl + E.
  • I don't think there's any way for it to not show up on their Gifts tab once written to the database.  But, if you code all of the ticket fees to a particular Fund or Campaign, you can suppress it when pulling reports, exports, dashboards, and gift summaries.  We do this at Habitat for Humanity all the time because both our donors and the families we serve are tracked in Raiser's Edge.  Whenever we pull fundraising reports, we always suppress any gifts that are associated with the Closing Cost and Home Repair Funds.  That way all departments can share the database but we can get at the specific information we need.
  • We use a gift type of "other" for all event registration payments. I find it easy to remove that gift type from all of my reports, and can then quickly get actual gift summaries.
