Target Analytics Import Issue - Invalid Code Table name: Description

Options
Good morning!

When I go to add an import for Prospect Ratings, I receive an error that the input ratings are of an incorrect data type. These ratings pull from a table designated as text but point to a table called 'Major Giving Capacity' that's on a Likert scale/list of available dropdowns in the Config -> Table. I thought maybe this was causing the issue, even though we have thousands of numeric ratings on records that don't pick from these criteria (only difference is a new Source for 2018).

I'm also unable to change the data type of the table in general as it's already associated with existing records.

Thank you!

  • Hi Andrew-

I'm not entirely sure that your Major Gift Likelihood Rating is really coming from a table called Major Giving Capacity Rating. The fact that your data type is Text would indicate it can't come from that table because text fields are free text. In my Raiser's Edge install, if I choose the data type Text for my Ratings entry, I'm not allowed to choose anything from the Table Name drop-down. Additionally, if I choose Table for my data type, then select a table, then change my data type to Text, the table I previously chose in the Table Name drop-down disappears as though I never chose a table.

I'm completely stumped on how you even got a table name to show up in that drop-down, because you should not be allowed to chose a table for a Text field.

It's also hard to tell from your screenshot which cell contains the incorrect data type, although I would infer it's the Description of 526 (assuming Major Gift Likelihood (out of 1000) lives in the Ratings table).

Can you post a screenshot of the exact error message you see during the attempted import?

Perhaps you might also post a screenshot of your Ratings table and your Sources table with both the table name and the table values visible in the screenshot so we can be sure which values go with which table.

  • Good morning,

I still don't understand why I'm not even able to add new values to this table, but I suspect it's due to the fact that it's set to text while pointing at a table, which clearly shouldn't have happened upon the initial setup of this table.

We went ahead with the workaround to create an entirely new attribute with a slightly different naming convention a couple months ago.

    Thank you for following up.
