Action Import & Note

Options
Hi! Is there a way to do an admin import for an action that includes an action notepad at the same time? I see the option for "Constituent Action Fields" and a different import template "Constituent Action Notepad Fields" but I cannot tell if which to use to import the action and note simultaneously....

Or must I first import the action and then separately import the note to the specific action import ids?

Thank you!

  • You can import them at the same time using the Constituent Action Import.

  • I believe you can import every (or almost every) field on the Action Record at one time.  Except for Solicitor.

Importing the Action Solicitor requires a second pass with Import.  And, because of that second pass, you must assign an Action Import ID so that you can get the Solicitors on the correct Actions.

Thank you! When I go to import, it wont work because it says I need an assigned solicitor to the action in order to upload the actin and notepad. But I don't see solicitor as an option. How do I then override this required field if it's needed first for the note import?

  • I'm guessing that you have [Solicitor] marked as a required field in Config.  I suspect the only workaround is to go uncheck that box, run your Import, and then go re-check the box.

Please, please, please test with just one record until you have your Imports set up and are sure they're running as expected!  If you need help with the Action Import ID and that second pass that assigns Solicitors, let me know and I'll walk you thru it.  It's not difficult, just a bit annoying, and I don't have time to type out an explanation that will make sense.

Thank you so much I really appreciate it! Going to test and report back : )

Hi Molly - After some trial and error, myself and a team mate put together instructions and a spread sheet template that have done the job so far. Having to import the Solicitors as a second step is a bit annoying. Hope they can be helpful. :)

  • Hi Kristin,

Your samples are very helpful, thanks! Have you ever dealt with a validation not working because it said there was no solicitor/solicitor missing? It appears that my RE is requiring solicitor for the action in order to save/complete the action save/import. So how can I save the initial action import in order to then do the step 2 solicitor import (which is separate import format) if i cant even save the action first?
  • This helped me a ton, Kristin!  Thank you!!
