Batches unintentionally being marked as recurring before committing

Options
Lately, when our gift batches are being committed, they are mysteriously being marked as recurring, and then the batches are assigned new batch numbers in place of the ones that were there when the gifts were being entered.  This is not happening with all of our batches, only a few at a time, and the person who is doing the committing swears that she isn’t going in and marking them as recurring intentionally.  Is there some way a gift batch can be changed to recurring during the committing process without going into the gift batch setup and clicking on the “Batch is recurring” box?

Thanks -

    Frustrating, huh?

I recall this happening to me years ago. I think you need to go to the batch set up, make sure box is not checked and save batch. It has a weird default to 'recurring' once you use it.

That might very well be the answer.  I just started a new batch to see what came up, and lo and behold, the recurring box was checked off.  Thank you so much!  I believe this settles the problem.  If it doesn’t, I’ll be back, lol.

Here's what I've noticed is that when a user sets up any batches, that's what the default set is for whatever next batch is set up by that same user.  So if Jan Jones sets up a recurring batch, it will keep that "default template" as Jan's next batch UNTIL something is changed.  My co-worker had this happen, and it's because she set up a new recurring batch, and then kept setting up new single use batches without noticing she had to deliberately uncheck that box for the recurring, so I had about 40 batches that were "recurring" but that weren't really recurring.  If needed, it's possible to open them up and uncheck that box and save them as static single use batches.  That's what I did.
