signup form customization

Options
Is there any way to have a drop down menu or just more options.  For example currently when people sign up with their email address it then brings them to a page letting them tell us more about themselves like address and what they specically are to our company (i.e. alumnus, board member, etc).  I was just wondering if this was possible.  I have attacehd an image of what our website currently looks like

  • Unfortunately, not yet.  This is a much-requested feature, and while there are very solid reasons why you want to limit the number of fields to be filled out, there are also good reasons why orgs need to, in some situations, gather additional information.

I have another question.  When someone click sign up, does it send them an email? I'm thinking we could use this as a workaround to get more information from them as to why specifically they are signing, if they are a parent, alumni, etc.

  • Sorry for the delay.  I know it sends a confirmation email, but you as the organization do not see that piece.  If you notice the Constituent Attribute (Online Express Email Signup) that is added when you download a new signup has a date & time stamp...that's not when they filled out the form on your website, that's when they clicked the button in the confirmation email.  Try it out yourself: go to your website and sign up with your email address (even if it's already in RE).  When you submit the form, you get this message:

    Thank you for signing up!

We sent you an email to confirm your email address. Click the link in the email to complete the signup process.

And you get an email confirmation that says this:

Please confirm your email subscription from [Organization Name].

    Yes, confirm my email address

If you did not make this subscription request, please ignore this message. You will not be signed up unless you click the confirmation link above.

Wait a day or more and then click the link to confirm.  Now check your OLX [Download Signups] button and you'll see your email address there.  Download it and look at the date & time stamp on the [Online Express Email Signup] Constituent Attribute.

Also, I do not think you can edit the text in either of the above pieces.  (I edited the Org Name part when I pasted it here.)
  • Do you know if this is still the case - can you edit the text on the confirmation screen or email that people get when they fill out the sign up form? Also, is it possible to change it so that people who sign up do not have to click a link in a confirmation email?

  • I would also like to know the answer to this. It seems organizations should be able to customize these messages. Unless this is another way this can be accomplised in OLX?

  • I found out that there isn't a way to do it at this time. I chatted with someone from Blackbaud and got this response: “I'm afraid there's not a override to that double-opt in with the confirmation link and there's not an option to tweak the language on the confirmation screen or email at this time, although it is a very popular feature request if you'd like to upvote it https://onlineexpress.ideas.aha.io/ideas/search?query=confirmation&utf8=%E2%9C%93”.

I followed the link and found several posts asking for this option and voted on all of them. There were also a lot of votes for Email Automation/welcome series type requests!
  • Thank you for the update! I guess we will just have to wait it out.

  • Hi Community.

I'm keeping this thread alive because like many of you my organization needs to:
    1. Add a custom field to the email signup form
    2. Improve the email confirmation language. Currently it says "Thank you for signing up! We sent you an email to confirm your email address. Click the link to complete the signup process."
Blackbaud, please listen to your customers and edit this template. It needs, after the second sentence, "Please check your spam folder if you do not receive it." Or something similar.

Because that is where our test sign up emails are going: spam folders.

    Thank you!
