LO: Graphics/Template/Hyperlink Issues with different browsers

Options
Hi all! I'm hoping someone out there can help me with this.

Using Explorer, I'm not able to add hyperlinks to text or graphics in the WYSIWYG of email campaigns. (After selecting a section of text/graphc and typing the URL, I push "Insert" and the form reappears, blank.) Using Chrome, I'm able to add hyperlinks to to text, but am unable to select any graphics (and thereby edit/change/add hyperlinks). I am using a template created from a monthly Go! project, so I've tried going back to the original template and editing graphics/adding hyperlinks, but I had the same problem.

In addition, when I try to change the template graphics using Explorer, the new graphic does not replace the selected one, but rather moves to an entirely new place on the template. (I've attached a document with screenshots to illustrate that.)

It should be noted that I've been using these templates since January and did not experience any of these problems until June. My co-workers are having the same issues and have also tried multiple browsers, so I'm not sure what else to do. Thank you to anyone who can share ideas or troubleshooting solutions!

    Hi Rachel,

I recently had to switch browsers in order to work within the WYSIWYG as well. I use Chrome and have stopped having the ability to edit images. I contacted tech support and they told me that Google recently did an update that is causing these issues. So I've gone back to using Firefox since it didn't sound like a fix was in the works. I don't use Explorer unless I'm testing something and don't recommend it as a default browser.

  • Thank you so much! I have started using Firefox and so far haven't had any issues. I really appreciate it!

In editing/uploading images, initially i used Chrome. Then a few months ago, I had a lot of challenges within the the WYSIWYG  for emails; layouts were wrong, images weren't updating. I also used Explorer as a test/backup and the problems continued. Finally I called LO Support and it was recommended to use Firefox. So far, there hasn't been any problems.

Same issue over here and have been having it for awhile...sometimes I have to use Chrome, Firefox and Explorer which is incredibly frustrating.

I was told by Support that this was a known issue, but not a priority to address.

Yes, I heard the same from Support, that this is indeed a known bug (whether LO or Chrome's fault, unknown - by me/us, the clients, however). For me, having to switch to Firefox is really really annoying, as all my bookmarks and related sites that I use all the time in my work are in Chrome. Switching back and forth between browsers pretty much sucks... As a result, I'm using the plain text editor a great deal more than I used to do. Which I know is not necessarily an easy option for many users.

Hope this becomes a priority SOON!

  • Thank you all for your feedback. I too hope it becomes a priority soon, as needing to constantly use a different browser for such a specific task is indeed not ideal.
  • Does anyone know if there is an update or is this a permanent bug?

Here in April 2020 this still has not been addressed; it's apparently a permanent and orphaned bug. And now, another proofing tool I use no longer works in Firefox, so I have to again switch back and forth between browsers to work with Luminate Online (specifically email) and then in the proofing tool, back to Chrome.

Browser-specific tools are AWFUL!!!! (And yes, I have a whole lot less patience with these issues in this COVID-19 era than I used to do.... Sigh.)
