Never Given Constituents

Options
I am new to RE in my department and am trying to pull a Query of all the Constituents in my data base that have never given to a particular campaign.

What is the easiest way to do this?

  • Go to Query,

    New Constituent Query,

In criteria, go to "gifts" and open that drop down,

go to "campaigns" , select campaign id ""does not equal" and select the campaign

Claudia's solution may be just what you need. It does depend upon how your org enters data. As a 'newbie' you'll need to check on your procedures.

For us, when a constituent declines to give to a campaign, we enter a Pledge of $0. They did not give to the campaign but would not pull just using previous query filters. When I'm looking for that data, I use a constituent query, Summary fields for total gift amount greater than $0 with filter for that fund/campaign.

Just in case your org records $0 dollar activity.
  • I would use Constituent query, Summary Information, Summary for gift, Total amount of gifts, Criteria equals $0; Filters select the Campaign/Appeal you're measuring against. We don't enter $0 pledges.

    Thanks You Linda

You could go this same route but instead of using Total amount of gifts, you could use Total number of gifts=0, use the same campaign/appeal filter.  You should get the same results.

  • Be aware that RE "helps" when you use those Summary Fields by automatically choosing Gift Types for you.  It will consider Pledges but not Payments (like Pay-Cash).  So either check your results carefully, or include Gift Type criteria in your Summary Fields.  (I do this out of habit now, even when I don't need to.)

I do a constituent query and summary information 'total number of gifts equals 0', i would then go into the filters and select all campaigns/funds (depending how your data is set up), and then include all gift types (as mentioned above RE does like to help and select only certain gift types as default, so if they have given a gift of another type not from the default group they could still pull through as 0 gifts).
