Birthday

My organization recenlty wanted to fill in some birthdays in our database.  We looked at Age Finder but they told us it only does month and year which makes no sense and doens't help.  Does anyone know of any alternatives?

What Melissa said is great - unless you're wanting the specific date so you can send a card or other birthday greeting. So, I guess the question is what are you wanting to do with the info? If you just want a general idea of their age then month and year should be perfectly fine. Not sure where to send you for more specific date info - unless you just ask the constituent :)

  • Hi Jesse,

    A few thoughts-

Wealth Screen information sometimes returns birthdate so it may be worth looking into ResearchPoint. Otherwise, we've been successful using age finder & simply sending a card during the birthday month as our touchpoint!

Mmonth and year is better than nothing wouldn't ya think?
  • In my experience, ResearchPoint most often only returns month and year.  The only source I ever found that was somewhat reliable was a website www.birthdatabase.com, however, about 6 months ago or so, the url started redirecting to an unrelated site.  The data the site used was based (so I was told) on phone book data, so if someone was not listed in the phone book, they wouldn't be on the site.  (Probably reasonable, I wasn't listed and haven't had a landline in over 15 years.)  So I just tried the url, and it appears the site is back up and running again.
  • We use AlumniFinderOnline.com for birthdates, addresses, phone numbers, emails and more.  You can screen your database or you can pay by individual look up, and Alumni Finder provides full birthdates when known.  Don't let the name fool you, you do not need to be a unversity or school to use the service.  It's about 25 cents per individual look up (much less by batch), but it's been well worth it to find lost donors and update the info we need.  The data has been very reliable.

I just spent an hour pulling birth dates (we also use Age Finder) for birthday cards to our major donors from another subscription database. It would be very helpful if Target Analytics could find a way to pull this information when it's available. wink
