Email Received - does this include soft bounces (i.e. mailbox is full)?

Options
We are using queries that reference if constitiuents received an email from BBNC and are curious about the definition of Email Received. I imagine that this does not include hard and soft bounces since the message was not actually received by the recipient (even if we received an out-of-office bounce back). Can someone please confirm? Thanks!

  • Hi Crystal,

Thank you for reaching out, and I hope you are having a great week. The Email Received query fields in The Raiser's Edge, including the Email Name and Email Subject fields, allow you to query based on the email message itself. Regardless of the end result and if the email bounced or was successfully received, if Blackbaud NetCommunity attempted to send a message to that constituent, the message will show in the query result depending on the set up of the query.

For instance, if an organization attempted to send a message titled "Donate Today" to John.Smith@Gmail.com which results in a bounce and then queried on the Email Name of "Donate Today", all constituents for whom Blackbaud NetCommunity attempted to send that message, including John Smith, will appear in the query results depending on the other criteria. Other criteria and outputs can be included to filter out bounce messages, however, including the Last Bounce Date or Last Bounce Error fields under Email Bounces.

    Thanks and Happy Holidays!

    Tony
