User Defined Fields - Display Type

Options
Hi,

I'm fairly new to eTap and I'm wondering if anyone can help me. I've added a new user defined field where there is a set of possible values and you can select one or more. Myproblem is I need to be able to record a number in the box and not just a 'tick'. I've failed to work it out on my own or with the help of the knowledgebank so I just wondered if anyone had come across this before and if so how did they manage to get around it. Thanks so much

    Hi Jacqui!

It sounds like the UDF needs to be edited and set up a bit differently. So on step one, when you first build the UDF, on the Data Type field, select the type of data you want to track in this field. Your choices are text, date, month/day, currency, and number. Here's a link to walk you through it:

  • Hi Jackie, welcome to eTap!

It sounds like you want to change a User Defined Field (UDF) from a Multi-Select Field (check boxes) to a Text Box (type in the answer).

The problem is: you cannot convert a UDF from Multi-Select to Text Box (and vice versa) after you initially create the UDF. In this respect, UDFs are somewhat "set in stone" after you set it up. You'll have to create a new UDF (make sure you select "Text Box" or "Note Field" in Step 4!) and disable the old UDF. After that, you'll be good to go!

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Allison,

Huge apologies that it's taken me so long to reply. I don't think that will work for me either unfortunatly. I have a list of items that I need to be there permantly and the only thing that i need to be able to change is the amount in the text box. I'll attach the sample here. I don't want the user to be able to enter any text themselves only add in a digit in the box if you see what I'm saying. Thanks so much for your help though
