Adding 3rd Party Screening Results via new attributes

Options
Hello all,

First time poster here and new to RE in general. I have screening results from a 3rd party company for about 500 constituent IDs and there are 11 fields that don't match/map to existing RE attributes, or in some case to match but are occupied by previous screen data that we don't want to overlap.

I'm wondering if I can Import a list of the attributes without data and constituent IDs automatically and then import the data, or if I have to create the attributes manually? The knowledgebase and import guides don't seem to cover this scenario very well. Manual addition is fine in this scenario but my director is considering an enhanced screen with a lot more custom fields and I'm hoping to automate if possible.

Many thanks for any assistance anyone can provide.

  • Hi Nathan,

I'm not sure if I'm understanding your question.

If you are asking if you can create new attributes thru an import the answer is no, you need to set up the attributes via Config - both Attributes and Tables

Once that is done, as long as you have Con IDs you can create an import to globally add the new attributes to constituent records.

I'm attaching an import file sample (can't find it on Knowledge Base) and if this is what you are trying to do I can also let you know how to set up the Import as well.

    Good luck!

  • Hi Joanne,

Thanks for the feedback! You nailed it right on the head and I was hoping there might be an easier method but it seems I'll just spend some time manually adding the attributes.

    Thanks again
  • I think (and could be wrong) that so long as you set up the Attribute Category and the Table referenced by that Attribute (what Joanne said), you don't have to populate that Table separately.  There's a checkbox on the Import (first Tab) that says something like "create new table entries" which should allow RE to populate that Table for you during the Import.  However, I don't have time to go test that myself, so I highly recommend testing it before you do it...just pull a couple of records into an Import file and run the Import.  Then go look at those records.  If RE did what you wanted/expected, move forward with the rest of your data.  If not, you only have a couple of records to clean up before you try again.

I recommend testing for everything from Import to Global Add/Change/Delete...because there is no undo function and you really don't want to restore a backup.  In fact, I keep 4 dummy records (1 org & 3 indiv) in my database at all times...use them to test on, and then I don't have to worry about correcting anything after testing.
