Membership Referral Promotion - discount certain membership levels

Our organization is wanting to do a special membership promotion for the month of September where our current members refer their friends for a discounted NEW membership purchase. The discount will be 25% off a NEW membership at our Family and Family Plus levels (it excludes our One + Guest and Grandparent levels). We want the discount to be available online, but not to be abused for the lower levels of membership or for current members. Is there a way to restrict the discount code online to only 2 levels? Can I remove the discount box on one checkout screen while leaving it on another? We don't want to temporarily change the price of the memberships because that would be a hit to our bottom line with renewals in the month. If this isn't possible, can I add our promotion as a special event or daily admission program and add in the memberships on the back end once we capture the required information online?

I don't know if there would be another way, but why not make a duplicate of your Membership part and page, with only the relevant categories and reduced fees featured? Then make a link to this page available to only existing Members through an email they can forward to their family / friends or as a redirect / shortlink if in print?

Not much you could do to prevent existing Members from trying to use this page themselves, but you could have a disclaimer letting people know if was only for new Members and renewals would not be honoured at this price.

Overall - not very straightforward for a one month promotion! I would probably consider only having the offer via special paper form / over the phone only.
