Hello there,


I just have a quick question to find out - how do you manage requests from constituents to receive event invites when they don't fall into gift or any other criteria you have?

    We have an attribute called Mailing Request.  The corresponding description is a pull down menu with options (specific event, newsletterm etc).


    So, when we pull invite lists we can query on folks with that attribute and description.

    We use a solicit code and include that code in the invitation query.

    Just like Sunshine, we use a Solicit code, and add that as an alternate field into the Query. However, Attributes work well also, and we have used that in the past. There have been discussions on the relative pros and cons of using each, but basically, unless you generate your invitations through Mail, they are both just as good.

    Well, it has never been a problem for us - we just run a query on the solicit code and then use that query in Mail for our list. However, some users on other posts have legitimately pointed out that, in Mail, you can exclude constituents by Solicit code, but not include them based on solicit code. Mail is set up to exclude constituents based off solicit code; include constituents based off Constituent code; and include OR exclude based off Attributes. So you limit your functionality using solicit codes to generate a mailing list in Mail, unless - like us - you first run a query of the relevant records and then base your Mail run off that query.
