  • This is something we are actively trying to sort out... I made solicitor types such as Solicitor -Primary, Solicitor - Secondary (supporting role) but we are thinking of something like Stewardship (also under type) to indicate this is something needing minimal interaction.  Our concern is the Solicitor could 'accumulate' lots of older donors making it look like they have hundreds on their plate!  How are others parsing this out in RE for all stages of constituency? (We don't have the prospects module and will not for the time being)
  • Okay - one more try ...

    Thanks!

    We use, primarily:

Prospect Manager (this is the Development staff person in charge of moves management for the prospect)

Secondary Manager (If applicable, this is a Development staff person working in conjunction with PM, but not lead)

Secondary Solicitor (if applicable, Organization staff person who works in conjunction with PM - could be CEO, Department head,VP...)

Volunteer (If applicable, Member of our Board/Trustee who work in conjunction with PM)

All prospects (should) have a Prospect Manager.  Not all will have a Secondary Manager, Secondary Solicitor, or Volunteer.  But they may.

Even if the CEO is taking the lead in speaking with/soliciting a prospect, there will still be a Development staff person (gift officer) assigned as PM.

Oh, and "Former" versions of all of the above.

It will really depend on what type of solicitation process you have.  We do not have MGOs or the prospect module. Other than when we have staff asking staff, 99% of our solicitors are volunteers.  So our types will show the segment of the campaign, fund and the year.  Ex: Pace 16 or Cmty An 16.  For us this works well so we can filter assignments for past years etc.
  • We have Development Directors so they have the responsibility to design their own moves mngt.  Slightly different model.  the CDO oversees all progress but has her own 'flock' too. Thanks for the ideas!

I am personally very interested in looking at the relationship tab <All> and seeing if a the relationship column is a solicitor because they may also be an employee at a place, a relative, who knows, but for cleaning up data we need to be able to see at a glance someone who NEEDS to be in there twice. Maybe this is too much from a database person perspective but... So far:

    Solicitor - Primary

    Solicitor - Secondary

    Solicitor - Former

Stewardship must be teased out elsewhere in RE I am guessing from the answers
  • I found part of a slide show from BB that has the following categories in Attributes:
  • Thank you Everyone- So many great ideas! At what point does one become a former? When the campaign or appeal is complete? or when the solicitor leaves? Such as a board member completes his/her tenure?

Relationships is a whole different clean up project frown

    Thank you,

    SheryAnne

  • We have former solicitors which could still 'ask' but some are with other foundations so they are definately former :-)

I now see there is a column to add to RE to see the relationship type so we will be reconsidering the categories...

  • Sorry the slide clip did not show - slide 9

                              2 - Identification

                              3 - Strategy

                              4 - Cultivation

                              5 - Solicitation

                             6 - Stewardship

  • JoAnn Strommen:
smiley Was going to say, you can show the relationship type.

We do not use "former..."  We do use end dates for the relationships.

SIDE TIP I learned from a post by John H - you can set your format to display with a different color for inactive relationship.  (I use a gray - so nice to key in on the colored active ones when looking at relationships. Inactive is defined by date to on the relationship record so they all 'gray' out when our campaign is done due to date I entered for relationship.  You can set it by going to  Tools>User Options>Color>Legends>View Relationship Legend.

Neat! had no idea you can color code...

    Thanks!

We use the following solicitor types:

    • Primary Solicitor - Primary staff person responsible for management of the prospect/donor.
    • Additional Solicitor - Secondary or additional staff person responsible for management of the prospect/donor.
    • Volunteer - Volunteer that will be used in soliciting and assisting in the management of the prospect/donor.
    • Natural Partner/Connection - Constituent that has a connection or is a natural fit in developing a relationship with or assisting in the solicitation of a prospect/donor.
