Recording & Reporting on Planned Giving

Seeking advise! Organization is starting to receive more interest in planned giving and some people who have submitted information about their intentions. The organization has the planned giving module, and leadership is wanting to see reporting on it. Seeking advice, what is the best way to record it in RE using the Planned Giving module? Should we add the expected dollar amount the donor is anticipating on giving? Or should we record $1 as the placeholder? Thanks in advance!

  • @Lanetta Gilder We use the Planned Giving Module and it is best to put an amount you are expecting from the donor in the Planned Giving Module. Now if you have no idea, I would just put zero in. Once the gift comes in after the donor dies, mark it as realized. One thing is to put the Planned Gift into the donors record, but when the person passes to create an estate record and link the records and to make sure the Planned Gift in the donor's record is zeroed out.
