How do I customize TeamRaiser email message templates?

Options

You can create and customize several types of email messages that participants can access from the Participant Center. To alleviate the burden involved with trying to create their own messages, participants and team captains can use these emails to recruit team members, solicit donations, and thank donors, as well as to perform other fundraising activities (such as inviting team members to lunch). Providing preformatted messages can help participants conveniently perform tasks without requiring large amounts of time and effort.

Note: If you selected the Allow participants to create a password when they form teams option for this TeamRaiser, you should include the password to the Participant Center in the Recruiting Team Members and Soliciting Gifts email messages by typing the username and password information directly in the message Body.

To configure the message templates:

1. Click TeamRaiser Messages from the third-level navigation bar (or, click the Configure TeamRaiser Messages link in the Configuration Checklist on the TeamRaiser Information page).

2. Click the Add Message button.

3. On the Add Message page, for:

a Message Name, type in a descriptive name will help your participants identify it from the list displayed to them in the Participation Center. It may be helpful to use part of the message type in the name (for example, Solicit Gifts from Your Family).

b Message Type, select the appropriate type from the drop-down menu.

c Subject, type in the message that you want recipients to see when they receive this email and then:

Note: It may be helpful to include the TeamRaiser cause (for example, Help Me Fight Teenage Illiteracy).

- Leave the Allow the user to edit the message subject radio button to enable users to change the subject line.

- Or, click the Make subject read-only radio button.

d Body, type in your text and then:

Note: To maintain a consistent theme across all elements, you may want to use some of the same text used in the autoresponders. For example, the Sample Solicitation Autoresponder may provide a good base for the Solicit Gifts and Recruit Team Members email message templates.

- Leave the default Allow the user to edit the text of the message radio button selected.

- Or, click the Make message text read-only radio button.

- Or, click the Make message text read-only but allow user to add to it radio button.

e Link Text, type in the words that will inform users that they will display the participant's personal page if they click the link (for example, See My Homepage). This link displays at the bottom of the email message, and by default, will display the URL unless you provide a phrase here.

4. Click the Save button to close this page and display the Suggested Messages page again.

Note: The messages displayed in this list are administrator-created. Messages that participants create do not display in this list.

5. Repeat Steps 2-3 to continue adding messages.

6. When you have finished adding messages, click the Done button to close this page and display the TeamRaiser Information page again.
