One-Click Unsubscribe (Google & Yahoo DMARC Requirements February 2024)

Options

Hello,

Google and Yahoo are enforcing their DMARC requirements beginning in February 2024. One of their requirements is a one-click unsubscribe.

How can we add a one-click unsubscribe to our Luminate Online stationery / email messages? We're already using the standard unsubscribe link.

Google's DMARC statement (full link)

Enable easy unsubscription: You shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to stop receiving unwanted messages from a particular email sender. It should take one click. So we’re requiring that large senders give Gmail recipients the ability to unsubscribe from commercial email in one click, and that they process unsubscription requests within two days. We’ve built these requirements on open standards so that once senders implement them, everyone who uses email benefits.

Yahoo's DMARC statement (full link)

Enable Easy Unsubscription: Our users should be able to unsubscribe from unwanted emails without any hassle. It should just take one click. While we have promoted solutions for some time, adoption of these common sense standards have been low. We will require senders to support one-click unsubscribe and honor our users requests within two days

Thank you,

Aaron

  • @Aaron Colon Blackbaud support replied with the following:

We are working with Google to implement this to their requirements. The implementation of one-click unsubscribe in all messages is currently set for June of this year. We will update all clients once we have this set.

For additional information on the new Google/Yahoo requirements please see the following Knowledgebase article: Changes coming to Google and Yahoo! Mail in 2024

  • @Aaron Colon I see that the Google full link page says that:

By February 2024, Gmail will start to require that bulk senders:

Hopefully the phrase “start to require” means that Google will cut senders on Blackbaud some slack until their work together is complete.

  • Blackbaud team. @Crystal Bruce. I have checked this link:

But there haven't been any updates and this should have been implemented last Friday night.

Can someone from the BB team confirm this was completed?

    Thanks,

    Phil
