Does TeamRaiser work like FirstGiving.com?

We have converted to Convio and wanted to utilize TeamRaiser as an individual fundraising page creator. In other words, we do not set up events for individuals instead individuals will decide what activity they want to do, i.e. run a marathon, do a bike athon, raise funds from their wedding birthday, etc. the constituent does the 'event/activity' and raises funds for our organization. FirstGiving is a nice resource that then enables individuals to create their own fundraising pages and promote that for whatever it is they are doing.

 

I have been unable to determine if TeamRaiser works this way. Everything I see, read, and the webinars make it seem as if it is only an event mgmt system, i.e we create the event and then individuals sign up to participate. That works for our events however does not serve the needs of individual fundraising efforts which are important for nonprofits. Can we use TeamRaiser to replace FirstGiving.com?

TeamRaiser as a product is very flexible.  There are definitely other Convio clients that are using TeamRaiser to power the kind of constituent-led peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns that you're talking about.
