Do you believe in the transformative power of education and are inspired by the Jesuit mission? Brebeuf Jesuit is seeking a Controller to join our finance team. In this role, you will be instrumental in providing the school with financial integrity, helping to shape and implement our strategic financial objectives.

This full-time position reports to the Vice President for Finance (VPF).

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide expert stewardship of Brebeuf Jesuit’s accounting system in compliance with GAAP for not-for-profit educational institutions.
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring timely month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Generate monthly interim financial statements on an accrual basis.
  • Engage in monthly budgetary reviews, providing department managers with relevant financial data and variances.
  • Handle fixed asset accounting and assist in budgeting and analysis.
  • Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
  • Serve as the custodian of ongoing capital campaign records.
  • Liaise with external auditors, preparing year-end financial documents.
  • Offer guidance and advisory support to A/P and A/R personnel.
  • Participate in Finance Committee and Investment Committee meetings.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  • Proficiency with Blackbaud Financial Edge.
  • An understanding of not-for-profit fund accounting.
  • 3-5 years (or more) of experience in a similar role.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with diverse users of financial information.

PREFERRED

CPA designation.

Familiarity with Paylocity.

Previous experience in an educational environment.

Prior experience working in a diverse community.
