Major Duties

Under general supervision of the Senior Director of Advancement Services, the Prospect Management and Research Analyst serves as a strategic partner to fundraising staff and other key units regarding prospect management, research, and analysis, and conducts thorough research and analysis of biographical, philanthropic, professional and financial information of donors and prospects. The incumbent requires synthesizing complex details to provide valuable insights to the development and major gifts programs in an effort to strategically move prospects into donors.

  • Plays a vital role in helping University Relations and Advancement meet its goals for prospecting, fundraising, engagement, communications, and stewardship through prospect identification, prospect research, data acquisition and analysis, and prospect management.
  • Produces all research materials and prospect profiles for the President, Vice President and fundraisers, and builds productive working relationships with the assigned fundraisers.
  • Provides consultation to identify and qualify major gift prospects that have the propensity and capacity to support university wide and/or college/program specific initiatives through the use of modeling and wealth screening tools.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in a job-related field required.
  • Equivalent to five (5) years of full-time, progressively responsible relevant experience. Oversight and administration of a program with supervision and/or lead experience.
  • Experience with multiple research tools and methodologies preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of prospect management systems and the moves management of donors. Understanding of the fundraising profession and ethical standards.
  • Ability and specialized skills to: take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved; expertise in investigating and analyzing financial data and individual wealth indicators, such as a donor’s ideal giving level; ability to train others and provide lead work direction; interpret, and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures to make recommendations; perform research, using multiple research tools and methodologies; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; strategic thinking skills; understanding of non-profit fundraising.
  • Ability to: build systems and perform on tight timelines; verify information accurately; organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of policies and activities; coordinate work with other employees, providing direct instruction as assigned; use logic and reasoning for approaches to problems; readily accept new challenges, work assignments and establish the most effective way to address new issues, actions, activities and challenges; think quickly and respond rationally and politely to inquiries, work demands, new work and changes in direction including aggressive deadlines; learn quickly; understand the implications of new information for both current and future decision-making; proactively seek opportunities for acquiring additional knowledge and skills, including cross-training with other Development and Donor Relations Department staff.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver and more.
  • Classification/grade: 1038 / AA/S / 3
  • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $5022 - $6800 per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $5022 - $9083 per month.
  • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday; may include evenings and weekends.
  • REG: This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
  • The position is currently hybrid (2 days in office, 3 days remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
