The Senior Manager, Database plays a key role in managing and providing the proper data structure to identify, measure, and assess donor trends to support fundraising strategy, portfolio and giving campaign management.

As an integral part of the Fund Development team this position provides superior and complex database management for both Direct Marketing and Philanthropy & Partnerships. The Senior Manager, Database provides high level database service to the senior management team, is responsible for the accuracy of donor records and is a proven leader in making sure that reporting for various fundraising activities is accurate and that data security and audit is conducted on a regular basis. This role is also responsible for Raiser’s Edge NXT database reporting, other third-party donor database management, and administration. This role will work closely with the database vendor to manage the day-to-day operations of the Raiser’s Edge Database for Fund Development Department.

This role reports directly to Senior Director, Direct Marketing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Data Management and Reporting • Working directly with the senior management team, providing the best recommendations to get accurate and valid data reports as well as proper database management. • Conducting yearly data audit with recommendations on how to improve database hygiene and establish proper database procedures and security groups. • Utilizing knowledge of multiple donor types and channels creates a standard, custom, and adhoc reports using Crystal Reports, power bi, or insights module in RE NXT. Job Posting • Provide relevant weekly/monthly (as appropriate) reporting on fundraising status and moves management. • Proactively provide pre/post data analysis of fundraising and donor engagement campaigns/programs to inform future growth including but not limited to demographic information, giving trends, retention. • Manage, develop and maintain efficient coding systems using Alzheimer Society of Canada (ASC) standard donor type definitions and coding. Works in close partnership with the Finance department to ensure all gifts and pledges are recorded and tracked properly and reconciliation report is accurate. • Manage day-to-day operations of the Raiser’s Edge (RE) Database to include but not limited to setting up new users; training new users; creating funds, appeals, events, campaigns. • Running global changes, appeal additions, and coding queries to keep records up to date with mailings and invitations. • Lead archival and retrieval of historical data as required. • Create and execute ad hoc requests for reports, queries, and exports with the goal to being more proactive with reports on special fundraising projects, as well as everyday fundraising activities. • Meet report and information request deadlines and ensure that the information reported is current and accurate. This also includes special requests for lists for mailings, cultivation events, donor stewardship. • In conjunction with the Senior Director, Direct Marketing and, and the Senior Director Philanthropy and Partnerships, contribute to executing and applying the overall fundraising strategy. • Manages, reviews and approves all complex data pulls for Direct Marketing team with database vendor and Direct Marketing vendor. • Manages data from complementary/third-party fundraising databases, making sure that data is properly uploaded in RE. • Support in improving the moves management process tracking, including but not limited to pipeline updates, coding, and action tracking. Data Integrity and Vendor Management • Manage, develop all written database policies and procedures for processing and data management. • Responsible for all data integrity; keeping abreast of all benchmarks and donor trends and behaviors, data changes, constituent contact information, address accuracy, and the interrelationships of data. • Actively participates, manage and leads weekly meetings with third party vendors for all database issues and questions, and determine and execute solutions and strategies, and work to find the resolution, by engaging all team members using RE database. • Prepare online file imports for Raiser’s Edge NXT. • Manages all database processes and make recommendation to improve data accuracy, quality, capture and tracking. • Translate technical data into actionable and understandable insights. • Responsible for all data and system related training to the teams related to scope of work, as required. (i.e,. data segmentation, prospect review) • Ensure form acknowledgement letters are all updated and uploaded for easy use in Raiser's Edge, Education: • Bachelor’s degree or relevant post-secondary education. • An equivalent combination of experience, skills and education will also be considered. Experience: • At least 8 years of Raiser’s Edge database management, including prospect and constituent management, complex direct marketing data pulls, data audit experience, data import/export, developing standard and customer reports, and optimizing performance in non-profit organization. • Minimum of 3 years managing people. • Extensive knowledge with Luminate Online or other third-party online software. • Blackbaud University Training or Certificates. • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information. • Advanced proficiency with Crystal Reports, Power Bi and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). • Demonstrated high level of details when manipulating donor data, financial analysis, and reporting skills, including knowledge of multiple funding streams and implications. • Familiarity with Canada Revenue agency charitable rules.
