Overview and Responsibilities

Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota is seeking to hire a Leadership Giving Officer. Reporting to and in partnership with the Sr. Director of Alumni and Benefactor Engagement, the Leadership Giving Officer manages a portfolio of leadership giving level donors and prospects through prospect identification, qualification, strategy, development, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Primary responsibility is to increase average annual giving by and number of individual donors in the $1,000 - $49,999 range. This job is externally focused with expectation that the majority of time will be spent making prospect/donor calls and visits.

Leadership Giving Portfolio Management

• Build relationships with prospects and donors capable of making leadership ($1,000+) gifts to effectively present the case for philanthropic support to Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, to achieve annual fundraising goals and position the organization for future success.
• Create goals and execute strategy for a portfolio of 150+ to drive growth in both number of donors and increased average gifts.
• Develop and implement strategy for each prospect/donor in portfolio to increase overall giving levels, secure annual gifts and multi-year campaign pledges in accordance with the organizational strategic plan.
• Develop and implement strategy for leadership giving donor discovery process, including focus on a highly connected donor list. Make discovery qualification calls and personal visits.
• Participate in leadership related events and communication strategy. As appropriate, lead cultivation and stewardship events and programs for leadership giving prospects and current leadership level donors.
• Complete targeted number of meaningful contacts and face-to-face visits each month.
• Track and document all cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities through the Raiser’s Edge database.
• Stay current on key organizational goals and programs to help define and advance cultivation and solicitation efforts with assigned prospects and donors.

Annual Giving Program Liaison for the School of Graduate and Professional Programs

• Develop and maintain relationships with deans, program directors and other key members of the Schools of Graduate and Professional Programs leadership team to better engage alumni and benefactors of the university.
• Work with SGPP programs to develop a cohesive fundraising engagement strategy.
• Work with SGPP programmatic leads and the Alumni and Benefactor Engagement team to develop overall annual programs solicitation appeals for the alumni of the Schools of Graduate and Professional Programs.
• Other duties as assigned

• Regular attendance is an essential job function to ensure teamwork and face-to-face interaction with faculty, staff, students, and alumni and friends of the University.
• Demonstrate multicultural competence – the awareness, knowledge, and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different in meaningful, relevant, and productive ways.
• Travel required, including evenings and occasional weekends.
• Ability to take advice and guidance in a positive and productive manner.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required. Experience deemed equivalent and relevant will also be considered.
• Facility and proficiency with computer and development software (Raisers Edge NXT) preferred.
• A demonstrated commitment to the highest professional and ethical standards including confidentiality.
• May consider other acceptable equivalent combinations of training and experience.
