if I copy a child, how do I associate it with a different parent

Options

I was told to copy my blueprint and make changes for 2014 (instead of using 2013). Then I was told to copy the previous children and make the changes from 2013 to 2014. I did this, but I can not figure out how to associate the copied children with the NEW blueprint. It continues to point them to the old blueprint. Does anyone know how to associate a child to a different blueprint?

Thanks.

When you are on your TeamRaiser page and you see the Blueprint tab you can click there to create a new child event blueprint. I don't believe there is an option to create a new event from a blueprint and then simply copy a old child event and connect it to an old blueprint. As far as I know you have to create a new child blueprint. I'm going for forward this to some of our TR experts to get their input.

My next question--once we find out if I can or can't associate the copied child to a different parent is this. If I have to start over creating new children from the blueprint, how do I do that? I was never instructed on that when it was created last year--and I haven't found the answer yet. I'll keep looking, but I'm hoping someone can point me to a set of directions or give me the basics so I can create the children from the new blueprint.

    Thanks!! Robyn

I have never made a copy of a previous child event to associate, I always created my child events from my Child Blueprint so I'm not sure if you can connect them. If you can, you should see the option on page three of your child event configuration on #9 "Event Affiliation." If you can connect a copied child event you wild be able to do so here. Others I asked around here have never tried to connect a child event copied from a previous year, they have only connected a new child event copied from the blueprint. So let me know if this works for you.

    Kent,

I'm still confused. We have the blueprint and the 3 children associated to the blueprint from 2013. I copied the blueprint to be 2014--how do I create the 3 children to go with it?

Or am I supposed to always use 2013 blueprint and children...and change the pieces to be the new year each year?

Ah-ha--just found out that under Blueprint you click 'copy' then "Create a child". Got it. Thanks!

Just got back to my desk. Glad to see you solved it. Let me know if I can help again.
