The Team
You’re on a team ambitiously advancing the work of Alight by actively engaging donors, supporters, and partners in a way that is meaningful to them and promotes Alight’s work worldwide. The Engagement Team is comprised of the following teams: Annual Fund, Global Connectors (Major Gifts), Partnerships & Government Affairs, Donor Services, and Marketing & Communications. This role will collaborate closely with all teams while sitting within a new operations team.

The Role
The Engagement Operations Data Specialist supports the Engagement team in fulfilling its purpose to raise Alight’s visibility, increase private giving, build strategic partnerships, and engage our donors. Reporting to the Engagement Operations Manager and following guidance from team directors, this position supports the Annual Fund, Global Connectors, and Partnerships teams to track and report on their fundraising goals. This role will coordinate with Donor Services and our Annual Fund Coordinator to align data management across teams.
Building a shared organization takes time and intention. We will always be becoming Alight, which means your work will evolve as well. For now, here’s how you could anticipate spending your time:
Raiser’s Edge Data Management – 30%
- Manage input and extraction of data in the database. Run reports regularly or upon request.
- Work with team leads to ensure data is updated and accurate to track team activities, including reviewing Funds, Appeals, Packages, and Solicitor names are used to measure ROI.
- Set up & adjust coding structures to maintain consistency and streamline data points. When needed, globally and manually update RE records to reflect new systems, including constituents, gifts, actions, and code tables.
- Confirm data exists and is accurate across all platforms. Download and import constituent records from a variety of platforms, including Raiser’s Edge, Active Campaign, and Classy. Manage data from third party sources (giving campaigns, offline marketing lists etc), and add to systems as needed.
- Update dynamic content monthly or as needed – including identifying new HNW prospects, managing information flow, and globally updating donor communications.
Reports & Performance Analytics – 20%
- With the Engagement Operations Manager, work with teams to track annual fundraising targets and run comparative reports on donor performance.
- Build and update dashboards and data visualizations monthly and quarterly to report on goal progress and financial performance.
- Run annual deep dives into understanding donor behavior to make informed decisions about future targets.
- Manage data software subscriptions and process annual renewals. Determine required coverage and submit timely invoices.
Annual Fund Activities – 20%
- With Annual Fund director, build targeted audience lists for Direct Marketing solicits. Pull lists, import data, set up codes in Raiser’s Edge for gift tracking, work with Donor Services to ensure accurate coding, and share results to teams on solicit performance quarterly or as requested.
- Globally update donor communication preferences in response to targeted emails, calls, or texts.
- When needed, support fundraising efforts by attending events, sending emails, reaching donors through phones calls or texts, or assembling mailings.
Portfolios & Relationship Management Support – 20%
- Review and update portfolios and work with Global Connectors to manage coding so they can track and report on their own gift solicitations and stewardship activities.
- Support pipeline modeling and forecasting for prospects from conferences, events/activations and networking developments.
- Run insight reports on donor demographics and wealth analytics for marketing segmentation or cultivation around affinity groups.
New or Interesting Projects/Progressive Responsibilities – 10%

Anticipated Travel: Team gatherings in a U.S. hub
Work Location: This position is remote, with a preference for proximity to our NYC, DC, or Minneapolis hubs for occasional in-person collaboration. These hubs also offer access to collaborative workspaces for those interested in a hybrid work model.

- 3-5 years working in Raiser’s Edge or other relevant constituent relationship software
- Comfort and track record working in complex data systems
- Flexibility & ease with ambiguity: we respond to opportunity as it arises
- Excellent organizational skills: ability to work productively in a fast-paced environment and ability handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Gap detection: use and simplify data systems to deliver results to many stakeholders
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft systems, particularly Excel
