Merging - Attendance Timeline

Options

When I merge duplicate records belonging to children, their attendance timeline is never carried over from when they've been checked in and marked as “attended” to a class/event. This is a huge issue for us. Any idea what is going on, or why this is happening?

  • @Rachel DeRosa Are you performing the merge function in the database view? If so, you may need to do it in the web view in order to import event participation (database view doesn't show event participation). It is a nuisance because in the web view you do not have the option to delete the source constituent. You would have to go back into the database view to do that after you finish merging in web view. I hope this will be addressed as Blackbaud infuses moire functionality into the web view.

  • @Tara Cain I do my merges from the web view, create a static query list from there, and then go into the Database View to globally delete that list of merges. It's a process, but I have it down! But even from the web view, I see no check box to include class attendance. Much of the time I leave all boxes “checked” to be sure I don't miss any possible new information, but still do not get the attendance to merge over to the target record.

Thanks so much for your thoughts! It's been frustrating because you can't go back in and re-add that attendance, it's just gone.

  • @Rachel DeRosa I see what you mean. So even if you check the “Class Check-in" and “Event Participation” boxes, class attendance doesn't migrate to the source record?

The only other way you could do it would be to change your target and source records, so that the new record (presumably the one with attendance) is the one that stays. But the constituent ID would change, so that may not be desirable. If the above suggestion doesn't work this might be a candidate for the Idea Bank.
