Using Luminate Online to sell tshirts

Hello!


Each year my organization does a t-shirt campaign, and I would like to use LO to sell the shirts online. Has anyone done this before and would be willing to offer some insight?


Donors may buy multiple shirts of varying sizes, which is where I am unsure how to go forward.

Have you tried using the e-commerce function in Luminate? We have used it for 2 years for a holiday campaign. People can donate different levels to illuminate different colors of lights in a tree lighting ceremony. We have had a lot of success with it. You can configure products to be customized, and people can purchase multiple items in one transaction. For us, our biggest problem was that people wanted to illuminate multiple lights in memory of many people, but you can only do one honor/memorial transaction at a time on a donation form. In our store, we also give people the option to make an additional donation.

Yes I think that would be the best fit for your campaign. After you go live, there are a number of reports that you can run to get the orders. I use the "E-Commerce Fulfillment Report" because the lights that you can purchase are so customizable. If you don't need much more than t-shirt size to fulfill an order, you could go with the "Order Details Report." Play around with the reports to get what you need.

We don?t have any active stores for t-shirts
right now, but attached is a pdf of one of them.  It really is
a pain.  For the last few years, we?ve used Teespring
instead.

If you are using eCom to sell physical products you will need to add 3rd party Tax software to the mix, since you are required to charge tax on the FMV. The only choice that LO eCom supports is Wolters Kluwer SureTax (which Blackbaud still calls "Sales Tax Online" in the docs.)

This service computes the sales tax depending on the purchasers location, your locations, the type of products, etc. Its not cheap.


EDIT:


We also use a separate merchant account for stores selling physical items so finance can keep those books separate more easily. BBMS allows you to do this for no additional cost, if I recall correctly.

Nope. This is done with the Product Options section in the item configuration. This will add a drop-down menu to the item purchase page for the shopper.


Add a new product option to your item, say its "Color". Then you can add choices for this option. Say Red, Blue, and Gold.


Each choice can increase the item cost with the 'additional charge" value. Say Gold is more expensive, so this choice adds $2 to the item cost.
