Can anyone do Conditional Mail Merges to Word2016 from self-hosted RE7 ?

Options
I sure am hoping some guru may be able to help us out!  We just did a device upgrade from Win7 to Win10 and it came along with an update to Office2016. We are now having issues with Conditional Mail merges from our self-hosted RE7 system.  I have already tried doing the regedit fix for Office2016 (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Office\\16.0\\Word\\Options and adding in the SQLSecurityCheck). But we continue to get errors that state either  "Error: the action cannot be completed because the application is busy. Choose "Switch to" to activate the busy application and correct the problem." or else a pop-up that says "The remote server machine does not exist or is unavailable."

Does anyone here have any other steps I can try?  Simple merges are working.  My expertise with the conditional merge from Mail is limited so I am relying somewhat on the user (which makes me nervous ?). Does this work for anyone?  And by the way... yes we booted... several times!

Any thoughts, assistance or even commiseration are greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,

  • We had a similar issue in RE when using a previous version of Word, I think mail merges were getting hung up with sql errors popping up in the background and we didn't know they were holding up the merge as they weren't immediately visible. Until we upgraded to a later version of Word, I believe we had to work around it by Alt-Tab toggling through all the screens until we came to the sql popup and clicking on the prompt to get to the next screen (sometimes multiple times,) before the merges would be completed.
