Crystal Reports- Too Many Fields for Page Width

Options
Hi, I need to send about 60 data fields to a vendor.  I have exported the fields through Export but some of them need to be calculated fields that I need to do in Crystal.

All of the fields won't fit on the Details line in Crystal and I choose the longest width page size I could find.  I've been googling various answers but none of them work.

Each row is a constituent and they want 60 fields of data per person.  I only need to export this to Excel or a CSV or text as long as the fields as in their own columns.

Any help would be great!

If it is just going to Excel, you can change to a very small font. I use  3 point.

Then make all the fields the same size, and put them right next to each other with no space in between.

  • I was going to say something similar to Marie - I change the page to landscape and then reduce the size of each field so they're only a few millimeters wide. No need to be able to read what it says in Crystal, it will still export the full text to Excel.
  • The above answers are right on. The only thing I might add is to make each field a formula so you can edit it later. For example, if you want to include the FirstName field, make a First_Name formula that just returns FirstName, and insert the formula into the report. That way if the report requirements change later (I dunno - maybe every text field must start with a special character) then you just have to edit the easy-to-find-in-list formula instead of trying to (a) locate and select the 3mm wide field, and then (b) replace it with a formula.

Going along with what Petra said, I also create a formula for each report header, instead of inserting a text field.

It makes it easier to insert the fields and keep them all the same size.
  • Thank you all for the help!  I knew
someone else would have this issue, all great ideas.  I also
created a DummyPrinter with a new custom form that was 65 inches
    wide.
