RE and NXT filters - Constituent Codes or attributes

Options
Hi,

New user of NXT and wondering what filters (cons code or attribute) works for both RE database and NXT.  My predecessor appears to have created 60 constituent codes, and most appear as an attribute AND a solicit code.  I want to make sure data is configured to use as filter in both (clean up needed!!).

  • Hi Mary-

I don't use NXT often, but I did just look at NXT's functionality as it relates to leveraging Constituent Codes and Constituent Attributes. It seems to me that your decision may come down to personal preference around your reporting needs.

For example, you can leverage Constituent Codes in Analyze Actions, Analyze Recapture, Analyze Aquisition, and Analyze Retention, but you can't leverage Constituent Attributes.

In the Work Center, you can leverage Constituent Codes and only in certain places, but you can't leverage Constituent Attributes.

In Constituent Lists, you can leverage both Constituent Attributes and Constituent Codes.

Whether you go with Attributes or Constituent Codes may depend upon which NXT tool you rely on most.

We have only 10 Constituent Codes and I try to keep a lid on that number to avoid overloading that field.

  • Hi Mary,

We use NXT and Aaron hit the nail on the head, it really would come down to your preference and your most frequently used NXT features. As a database admin I favor the back end/traditional view and find it much more functional for my purposes, however NXT is constantly evolving. For me with that kind of quantity I would want to use them as attributes as I try to keep constituent codes as the broader classification, but again it is going to be very much up to you and how you want to use the data.

    Claudia,

I agree with both you and Aaron.  Will see how our DD needs evolve with more use of NXT.  Its a great tool for fundraisers.  Thanks!
