Using "Interests" as source codes

Options

GOAL: to be able to have multiple people enter data for new members on a "Survey" form with the ability to add new members to "Groups"

We have organizers out in the field that must do data entry for new members. Instead of giving every organizer sub-admin status to enter their data, I've created a form through "Surveys" that allows them to enter all of the contact data while also designating a source code (so we can track where they were signed up).

These source codes are very important to us in terms of segmenting data, while also allowing us to track each organizer's count.

To my knowledge, I can't set up a "Survey" that would let a logged-in user enter data > when the user is logged-in and enters data, the entered data becomes the user's (make sense?)... So, to work around this, I've created the form with a logout button and require the organizers to logout before entering data.

So, in this form I need to include options for source codes. To my knowledge we cannot list groups as an option in "Surveys" so I set them up in "Interests." So, my interests look something like this: Source Codes > Organizer Name > Event 1.

However, Interest Categories don't seem to roll-up to their parent categories. So, even though I have members in "Event 1" those members do not show up in "Organizer Name."

And, when I visit the "Group" that is associated with the "Interest Category," the Group Summary shows no data. But, when I click on the "Members" tab, they are there (and yes, I've tried refreshing). I also see that you can set up tasks to run for the Group; however, I really don't want to have to set up a task for each Source Code...there will be hundreds!

So, is there way to offer groups as a multiple choice opt-in, OR, how can I manipulate the Interest Categories so that they roll up to their parent Interests?

This is frustrating in and of itself...but made even more so by the fact that it is so simple to do in Kintera...argh...
