Luminate Events registration problem and suggestions!

Options
Maybe I'm missing something, but here is my issue.  We have fashions shows, luncheons and gala that are ticketed events that have a limit on the number of attendees for each event . We sell both invididual tickets (with no purchase limit) and tables (10 or 12 people at a table) for these events.  Here are my problems:

1.  Set up ticket type Individual (no purchase) limit.

2.  Set up ticket type Table 10

3   Set up ticket type Table 12

Instead of the event having an overall inventory limit, each ticket type has an inventory limit.  So now I have to figure out how many tickets I am going to allocate for each ticket type.  Then the other problem is for each table I sell, it only counts it as one ticket instead of the 10 or 12 guests at the table.  And to top it off, in order to get a number of tickets sold, I have to run a guest list, export to excel and add 10 or 12 to each table type listed to get the total number of tickets I sold.  then I have to go back in to the ticket types to adjust the number if I need more tables, take away from the individual type, etc.  What a mess.  I have two big events coming up that will also be selling both ticket types with an overall limit of the number of guests.  I don't understand why each ticket type has an inventory limit.  Why can't there be an overall event total.  And how do you account for a table of 10 in your overall number.  Am I missing something?  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thank you.

  • Unfortunately, you aren't missing anything. For the first item, you basically have to keep an eye on your registrations and adjust the ticket allocations on the fly. Are you connecting LO to LCRM or just using LO by itself? We connect with LCRM and there is no way to do tables because LCRM will only sync with LO events if the event level has an attendee count of "1."
  • Well glad to know it's not me, but doesn't help either.  I have been keeping track and adjusting the numbers, but this is so stupid!  For all the technology, they can't figure out how to make an event with different ticket types and inventory limit work together?  Why offer ticket types and inventory limit when in reality, it doesn't work properly.  Just one of the many, many irritating things that drive me crazy about Luminate and TeamRaiser.

We connect with RE and it goes in to the event module, from there we assign tables.  So I always have to reconcile Luminate and RE since I have to manually add the guest in RE since will only add the person that purchased the ticket(s).

    Well thank you for support!

I'm just catching up on a couple-weeks' old digests so am just seeing this. And, unfortunately, I have no answers, just commiseration. I've been using Luminate (previously Convio) since early 2010/late 2009, and I can tell you that the Events module in specific has seen nearly NO updates or improvements in functionality in all that time (except for some responsive tools - that don't work with our wrappers!). I'm still holding out hope for a complete rebuild as Blackbaud overhauls Luminate Online overall, but it's definitely not going to be anytime soon (per the most recent Luminate Roadmap webinar).

    Sigh!

  • Has there been an update here? I'm running into the issue of needing to cap overall attendance for an event with multiple ticket types, and don't see a way to do it.
  • No there hasn't.  I added it to ideas bank a few years ago.  I guess they don't realize how important it is to be able to tie in all your ticket types to one gross amount.  I am constantly adding and subtracting numbers from my different ticket types.  It's really a pain.  Just like not being able to leave the end time open!  Some events don't have an end time and if you don't put one it adds the 12:00 am on your form and you look stupid like you made a mistake. They have not put in any resources in the events module.  It's basic, not allowed to customize, etc.
