Understanding Tributes -- Examples wanted!

Options

I'm trying to get a better understanding of how the Convio Tributes feature actually functions. I am curious in seeing how the end user interacts with the tributes page; what kind of form is used to to create a tributes page; how it all comes together in the CRM; and what the tributes page ultimately looks like as the end result.

I was told from developers than in order for someone to create a tributes page on your site they have to actually access the Convio CRM - they simply cannot interact with a form on the site. Is this true?

Any examples from organizations successfully using tributes on a large scale would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi Roland,

I'm excited to hear of your interest in Tributes. You have been misinformed to some degree, however. The constituent who wants to start their own personal fundraising page, known as a Fund in the administrators world, simply has to complete a registration form, customize their fundraising page, and then use the tools to ask their friends and loved ones for support. The champion, a term we use for the personal fundraiser, has a champion center where he/she has access to all of these tools (edit their fundraising page at any time, address book with online contact import, email tools, fundraising summary), and it is not at all like accessing the administrator interface of Convio.

The information passed between the Fund and Convio CRM includes information on the champion and their actions and the donors to the Fund and their actions.

Some great examples to look at include:

    BC Cancer Foundation

(have several campaigns running, For Weddings, In Celebration of, In

Memor of... Located Under "ways to give on bottom of page")

St Jude Children's Research Hospital (Create your tribute page to support work for St Jude; nice intro page. Also, there is a nice birthday example.)

American Cancer Society: Mosaic of Hope (A long list of memorial/tribute pages)

Canadian Cancer Society (good number of personal tributes)

Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (Good honor/memorial funds)

    ALS Association

    Avon Foundation Heroes

American Heart Association (Appealing Tribute pages)

American Heart Association Tribute page (One constituent raised over $100,000)

    Trisomy 18

(Disease & Disorder Tributes by parents: Our child's legacy)

    Children's Neurobiological Solutions Foundation

John Wayne Cancer Foundation - Team Duke

Using tributes to do ongoing athletic event fundraising. So, if I'm a

marathoner, I can join Team Duke and run all of my marathons in support

of John Wayne Cancer Foundation. I can participate in whatever events I

    want to all year long...

    National Osteoporosis Foundation

Thank you for the quick response, and for all the examples of tributes being used by other organizations. So, my next question is more specific to how a tribute page gets set up and then how one might integrate that "form" into a Web page (particularly, in CMS.) Right now I see a Tributes section in the CRM, but it doesn't seem to be offering any options for creating a Tributes form page for users - it only lets me create my personal tribute, which I can't even find in Web page format.

I've contacted my account rep. to see if we have all the functionality for a Tributes page turned on, but I have not heard back from him. Could you give me an easy indicator as to how I might be able to tell (perhaps a screenshot?) Or, does that form feature have to be created by Convio? To complicate matters further, keep in mind that we are using CMS to build out our site - I assume there is no eCRM component available yet that would allow us to embed tribute campaigns into our CMS pages.

    Hi Roland,

A quote form our CMS Services team,

"When using the CMS HTML editor to modify the body of a web page, use the “Insert Component” button. Then pick “CRM Content”. You should then see old faithful pop open and allow you to author CRM content and insert it into the body of your page."

The WYSIWYG Editor used in Convio CRM modules has a Links menu that contains an itme to link to a Tributes campaign, which allows you to create a link to the campaign splash page where the constituent can either search for a Fund, or create their own Fund.
