Having external links show up in search results

We use search.jsp for our search. We would like to be able to have external links show up in our search results--for instance our jobs listings and planned giving sections are on other websites. I would like to be able to set up a content type for external links and have the title of the content linked to the outside url in search results. The way I am doing it now is setting up a page with a meta redirect that shows up in results and was curious if there is a more straightforward way to accomplish what we are trying to do. Thanks for any advice you can provide!

Sounds like you want to consider Google Custom Search. I have used this before where it is setup to search across a set of sites on totallly different platforms.
