Does anyone have a good way of tagging a person who does not want to be visited?  Where do you enter it?

  • Thank you Melissa.  I appreciate your
response.  As you suggested we will enter it as a Solicit
    Code.

  • Yes – I agree.  I was thinking we should
also add a Note on the Notes Tab to document why we are tagging the
donor as “Do Not Visit.”  This way there is no question in the
    future.

Thank you for your input – I appreciate
    it!

  • I agree with Joanne that a note explaining why is very helpful to the people who will come after us. I encourage the same thing with a solicit code of Do Not Mail per Donor. A note is very helpful.

We used to use Solicit Code but lack of a date and comment field led us to create an attribute.  If you want it to pop up when you open the record you can create a constituent business rule that will open a message whenever you access a record meets the conditions.  The rule may also optionally execute when opening gifts or actions.
  • We also add it as a solicit codes and also add an annotation to the record so the message opens up when you open the record.  This way you don't have to look for it anywhere the message automatically displays.

We use the Overall Status field on the Prospect tab to track things like "Do Not Visit"; "Not a Prospect"; etc. We don't put it in Solicit Codes because it shouldn't prevent our Annual Giving Team from sending direct mail or calling, which is primarily what our Solicit Codes are for. "Do Not Visit" is more of a Development Officer code so it goes on the Prospect tab. We do add an accompanying Rating if a code like this is entered which explains why it was added and has a date.

  • Thank you. That’s very helpful and a great option.  No one
    else suggested that.

As we use the Prospect module also, I am going to suggest this to our newly created Major Donor person. Also, you can then assign the Action and/or Note regarding this status to the Proposal.
